The recovery center was very helpful helping me get sober great staff there also ❤️

My experience at recovery village was not only what I needed to get a grasp back on my life, but it was top notch in every aspect. From Dr. Wilki to the therapist like Elissa, Dr. G, David, Janet, Cop Rob, Megan, Kaylee, and the rest of the clinicians, I learned so much about myself. Can't forgot the Bht team as well as the Kitchen staff. Every part of the PLR team was always on point and gave 100% of their effort to help me with such a strong start to my recovery. I would not only recommend PLR to any and everyone I know dealing with a hard time but have a level of confidence that I didnt have before going to this facility. I thank each and every person involved but, im so thankful and grateful for everything that was done and have no thoughts about failing my program or recovery. I'm writing this to make sure management at The Recovery Village Palmer Lake knows exactly what they have in Katie, their admissions specialist. I'm a former client here, so I already knew this place changes lives. I've never stopped telling people that. But when it came time to help my mother get into treatment, I saw a whole new side of the team, and Katie stood out. Getting a parent into care is hard and emotional, and it can feel impossible. Katie made it possible. She's worked with both my mom and me with patience, clarity, and real follow-through. She doesn't make you feel like a case number. She treats you like a family she personally intends to see through to the other side. She has gone above and beyond at every step, and it has not gone unnoticed. To the leadership team: Katie is the kind of person who shapes how families experience your facility before they even walk through the door. She is the first face of your mission, and she represents it exceptionally well. Please make sure she's recognized for it. From a former client and a grateful son: thank you, Katie. You've given my family something we badly needed, which is hope backed by action.

They managed my withdrawal symptoms flawlessly. The setting is beautiful. The Ansel‘s and instructors were always friendly and knowledgeable.

Edit: I had a second stay at PLR recently and I have to say they have really turned things around and started doing things quite a bit better this time around, previous review is from nine months ago. The food was quite decent this time, I feel like they’ve really gotten themselves more organized. I was treated very well this time. Very good place to get sober, gain some resources, and build a community of people who understand the struggle. Previous review: Most of the staff members are kind and caring. Therapists and EMDR are quite good. Some of the meals were decent enough, think school cafeteria food, some were really rough to eat. Practically zero structure to the groups and classes. I had to listen to the exact same class two time every week. It gets so repetitive that no one wants to listen anymore. Some instructors have very different views on topics so I 'learned' one thing and then get told that answer is wrong in a different class. It seems like there are very many returning "customers", so clearly something is not working. Staff enter your room at night and check if you are there with different colors of flashlights. It is tough to sleep with roommates already and then any light sleepers will be woken up in panic as the door opens loudly and flashlights fill the room. Overall the place seems like a big money grab, the contract they have with my insurance kept me at a more expensive level of care causing me to not move to a lower level of care with more freedoms. When my family would reach out to management they would not get any response. Even the internal communication between staff was horrid. It is hard to even remember all the times I experienced confusion and staff having no clue what was going on. My therapist was out on vacation and left instruction for my care plan and the directors decided to pay no mind to her instructions and just brushed me off. By far the best thing about this place was the community of residents I got to know and care for. It is pretty nice to have a sober living area to reset and be around other people who also want to get their lives on track. Looking back I would have been better off doing detox, one week of groups/class and then going to therapy.
