Ambetter is the health insurance marketplace brand of Centene Corporation, sold in more than two dozen states under names such as Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan (Texas) and Ambetter from PA Health & Wellness (Pennsylvania). Four of our treatment centers are in-network with Ambetter plans. This page explains what Ambetter covers for addiction and mental health treatment, which of our centers accept it, and how to verify your benefits in minutes: verify your insurance online or call our admissions team any time.
Does Ambetter Cover Drug and Alcohol Rehab?
Yes. Every Ambetter plan is an Affordable Care Act marketplace plan, which means substance use and mental health treatment are covered as essential health benefits and must be covered comparably to medical care. Covered services typically include medical detox, residential and inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient care, outpatient therapy and medication-assisted treatment. Ambetter plans are sold in Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers (often branded Essential Care, Balanced Care and Secure Care), and your deductible, copays and out-of-pocket maximum depend on the tier. Most Ambetter plans require pre-authorization for residential treatment and use an in-network provider list, so choosing an in-network center matters.
Our Centers That Accept Ambetter
- Promises Dallas-Fort Worth (Lewisville, TX) — Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan
- Promises Brazos Valley (College Station, TX) — Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan
- The Right Step Houston (Houston, TX) — Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan
- The Ranch Pennsylvania (Wrightsville, PA) — Ambetter (Centene)
Ambetter plans are generally limited to their home state’s network, so a Texas Ambetter member would use one of our Texas centers and a Pennsylvania member The Ranch Pennsylvania. If you have Ambetter in another state, call us; out-of-network benefits or a single-case agreement may still be possible.
What to Expect With Ambetter
- Pre-authorization: required for detox and residential care; our admissions team obtains it for you.
- Medical necessity reviews: Ambetter authorizes residential care in blocks and reviews progress; the treatment team manages these reviews.
- Deductibles and copays: vary by tier; Silver plans with cost-sharing reductions often have low out-of-pocket costs for treatment.
- Step-down care: partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient are typically covered as you progress.
How to Check Your Coverage
- Online: submit your insurance details and our team verifies your benefits directly with your plan, usually the same day.
- By phone: call our admissions line any time; we confirm in-network status, estimated out-of-pocket costs and pre-authorization requirements on the call.
- What you will need: your insurance card (member ID and group number) and the name of the person who will be treated.
There is no cost or obligation to verify benefits, and your information is handled in accordance with HIPAA.
Paying Without Insurance
If you are uninsured or your plan does not cover the care you need, private-pay options and payment plans are available. See our guide to rehab without insurance and how much rehab costs.
