IAFF Center of Excellence (Upper Marlboro)
A residential treatment center exclusively for IAFF members, professional firefighters and emergency medical personnel, offering medical detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient care, outpatient services and aftercare for substance use disorders, PTSD and other behavioral health conditions. Located in Prince George’s County about 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. and 45 minutes from Baltimore. About the IAFF Center of Excellence.
In-network: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (including CareFirst and Federal BCBS), Cigna, Humana and UnitedHealthcare (including Optum and UMR). Many IAFF members are covered through municipal or union health plans administered by these carriers; our admissions team verifies each plan individually.

Does Maryland Health Insurance Cover Rehab?
Under the Affordable Care Act, substance use and mental health treatment are essential health benefits, and federal parity law requires plans to cover them comparably to medical and surgical care. Covered services typically include medical detox, residential and inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient care, outpatient therapy and medication-assisted treatment. What you pay depends on your deductible, copays or coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximum and whether the center is in-network.
Employer plans, Maryland Health Connection marketplace plans, Medicare and Maryland Medicaid all fall under these rules. Maryland Medicaid is not currently in-network at our centers; call us to discuss options.
