The Recovery Village is able to stand out from other facilities across the nation due to the numerous treatment programs that are available to patients.

There’s a common misconception that rehab facilities have to be cold and distant. People looking to begin recovery are sometimes reluctant to enroll at a facility due to the stereotypes that come with rehab centers. However, The Recovery Village in Umatilla, Florida, proves that treatment can be a positive experience that can spark a lifetime of healing. With colorful artwork displayed throughout the facility and the friendly face of a staff member around every corner, this treatment facility is far from the stereotypes.

Progression Through Programs

The Recovery Village is able to stand out from other facilities across the nation due to the numerous treatment programs that are available to patients. The facility helps prospective patients undergo a medical detox before entering treatment, in order to rid the body of the drugs that have been consumed. Depending on the severity of a person’s addiction, a patient can then enter one of the following programs.

  • Inpatient Treatment – This form of treatment requires patients to stay on-site with around-the-clock care.
  • Partial Hospitalization – This program at the Umatilla facility also has patients living on-site so they can focus more on accomplishing their treatment plan without distractions.
  • Intensive Outpatient – Usually a step-down from partial hospitalization, this program allows for patients to begin transitioning back to living at home while still receiving weekly treatment.
  • Outpatient – This program allows patients to commute to The Recovery Village for their treatment. This is helpful to those who are unable to take a leave of absence from their careers or cannot leave their home responsibilities unattended.

Each of these programs offers patients an individualized form of treatment that is tailored to their specific situation. The kind of program a patient is placed in after detox will solely depend on the severity of their addiction. During this time, patients work with a treatment team to help improve their physical and mental health. Patients may be required to attend individual therapy sessions or group counseling. The facility offers cognitive behavioral therapydialectical behavioral therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy.

Once the designated program is complete, The Recovery Village helps patients shift into aftercare. The facility helps those looking to enter a sober-living community to find an effective home that will contribute to their sobriety, along with finding the most effective 12-step programs and recovery groups, if applicable.

Where There’s Work, There’s Play

The 43,600 square-foot facility isn’t just unique for the number of programs it offers, but also for the various amenities offered on-site. Patients are encouraged to enjoy the outdoors, rather than stay cooped up in their rooms. The facility has an outdoor swimming pool for patients to enjoy on those hot summer days, and grills are spread throughout the grounds to allow patients barbeque with their fellow peers. The facility also has a gym, basketball courts, sanded volleyball courts, frisbee golf, yoga, horseshoes and tetherball so patients can stay active while they receive their specialized treatment.

Patients in the facility are able to gather around a large screen on numerous couches for movie nights in the rec room, which is also used as a cafeteria. The rec room is also equipped with air hockey and ping pong tables for some friendly competition amongst patients. For those who are more musically inclined, The Recovery Village gives patients the chance to express themselves with a full drum set, microphones and guitars for the ultimate jam sesh. While the music equipment can contribute to the music therapy offered to patients, art therapy is also provided.

Keeping Patients Feeling Positive

What’s most enlightening about this particular facility is the amount of support that patients receive, physically and emotionally. This support is perhaps most strongly displayed on the “hand wall.” This wall, displayed in the recreation room, has the painted handprints of patients that have completed their time at the facility and have moved forward in their recovery, re-entering back into their community. Not only does the wall display the success of those who have been in treatment, but it is also a reminder to all patients currently enrolled that entering recovery is very possible.

The Recovery Village works to not just help people looking to manage their addictions enter recovery, but to motivate them to excel in all aspects of life. This facility allows individuals to learn healthy coping mechanisms, expand their social skills and find effective forms of self-expression. This treatment center also gives patients a chance to boast about their accomplishments and inspire others in terms of entering recovery. Rather than keep everyone separate, the facility allows patients to build each other up through community activities and therapy.
