Alcohol & Drug Rehab Centers in Crawfordsville, Indiana

We will explore what is involved in the recovery process. Our discussion will include an overview of treatment program types like residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient treatment programs. The guide will inform you on what is required from you once you take the brave step toward controlling your substance use disorder and embracing sobriety. This guide will also act as an informative resource on how to get quality care and where to start your journey to wellness.

Crawfordsville Residential Treatment Programs

Residential treatment programs have many monikers: inpatient and retreat-based facilities are two of the most common names for these treatment centers. During a retreat-based program you will remain on-site and living at the clinic throughout the duration of your treatment. Inpatient treatment is the most comprehensive and protective form of rehabilitation because the threats to your sobriety are completely removed until you’re discharged and stronger within your new sober life.

Crawfordsville Partial Hospitalization Programs

Partial hospitalization programs share many similar characteristics with retreat-based facilities. However, you will most likely only remain living at the clinic during detoxification and then return home. Afterwards, commuting to the facility for all require therapies.

Crawfordsville Outpatient Treatment Programs

Outpatient treatment programs are convenient and non-invasive forms of recovery. At no point during your therapy will you reside at the facility. You will commute to the program daily for all of your prescribed treatments.

Crawfordsville Drug & Alcohol Detox Centers

The misuse of alcohol, prescription opioids, heroin, cocaine and other narcotics is a symptom of a bigger illness. A substance use disorder is an inherently personal disease with origins relating to heredity, environment, personal experience, availability of the desired substance and trauma. This is perhaps why substance use disorders don’t have a cure. Everyone struggling with this disorder all have it for different reasons.

Illnesses like bronchitis and glaucoma have defined roots that can be traced back to specific causes and appropriate treatments are created and applied in response. The sheer diversity of substance use disorders is what makes the condition so complex.

A detox center that doesn’t address the root causes of the disease will most likely be insufficient in helping you manage your condition. It is possible to cleanse the toxins from your body and still fail to experience recovery. Substance use disorders are chronic conditions with similar relapse rates to hypertension and asthma. You’ll need to develop several coping mechanisms to help you deal with these relapses. Sobriety is important to recovery, but it’s not the definition of recuperative success. Success in recovery is being able to return to treatment and aftercare fellowships despite bumps in the road to health.

Recovery Meetings Near You in Crawfordsville

Recovery can be synonymous with aftercare fellowships like Alcoholics Anonymous or SMART Recovery meetings. These groups are wonderful, open resources where you can find information, support and understanding from a diverse community. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and SMART Recovery are all self-sustaining, non-profit organizations that are dedicated to anyone fighting to manage their substance use disorders.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Meetings

In less than a century, Alcoholics Anonymous has become an icon in the United States and the most widely attended mutual aid fellowship with over 60,000 meetings held every year in over 130 countries. In 1935, Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith created Alcoholics Anonymous with the spiritually founded 12 steps to help themselves and others constructively manage their misuse of alcohol. Alcoholic Anonymous employs a spiritual approach to recovery but refuses to affiliate with any religion, faith or political dogma that may exclude anyone who needs the group. The singular requirement for joining AA is the desire to stop misusing alcohol.

Members are encouraged to find a sponsor. A sponsor is a seasoned Narcotics Anonymous participant who helps other members find their way through rehabilitation. SMART Recovery Meetings

SMART Recovery meetings have a lot in common with their older mutual-aid fellowships like AA and NA but operate from a scientific and logical foundation instead of spiritual bedrock. SMART is an acronym for Self-Management and Addiction Recovery Training. There aren’t any sponsors found in SMART Recovery meetings and negative labels like addict and alcoholic are deeply discouraged. SMART Recovery tries to help participants maintain the motivation to manage their condition, cope with impulses and find a life-style balance. If you’re interested in attending a SMART Recovery meeting it is best to contact the group’s facilitator to check if they’re accepting new members.

A part of the reason why residential and retreat-based treatment programs are so effective at helping patients manage their substance use disorder is because the participant has the time and space away from the temptation and stresses found in their home environments.
It may not feel like it now, but a retreat-based rehabilitative experience is a gift. Removing the enabling people, alcohol or drugs and concentrating on your own health and well-being is vital to the recovery process. Believe it or not, you need distance from your environment to provide you with a better perspective on what elements in your life contribute to the strength of your disorder. Find a way to take time out to focus on your recovery.
