Goshen Drug & Alcohol Rehab, Detox & Treatment Resources

Alcohol & Drug Rehab Centers in Goshen, Indiana

There are a lot of challenges to finding an appropriate rehabilitation center for your individual needs. One of those challenges is sorting through the endless offerings and promises of recovery. It can be hard to tell which facilities are invested in helping their patients and communities heal.

Goshen Residential Treatment Programs

Residential treatment programs are also called inpatient and retreat-based centers. Inpatient treatment asks their participants to live at the retreat facility throughout their rehabilitation. Retreat-based therapy can be highly effective due to the removal of the temptations, stresses and enabling environments which exacerbate your condition. Residential treatment programs usually offer extensive and holistic therapies that partial hospitalization and outpatient treatment facilities cannot provide.

Goshen Partial Hospitalization Programs

Partial hospitalization programs practice the same approach to recovery as retreat-based and outpatient care. This involves the phases of detoxification, individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), group counselling and preparation for aftercare. The difference being that partial hospitalization programs only keep you for a specified stage of rehabilitation, typically-detoxification. Detoxification can be dangerous. In a partial hospitalization program, a medical team observes your health throughout this process and may prescribe a medication-assisted treatment (MAT). After detox is complete you will return to living at home and commute to the facility for every prescribed treatment.

Goshen Outpatient Treatment Programs

Outpatient treatment programs are ideal for people who cannot take time away from their responsibilities to receive treatment. There is no residential aspect to outpatient treatment programs, but the patient will receive care through detox, individual CBT, group counselling and aftercare.

Congratulate yourself on taking this important step toward well-being. Regardless of whether you choose to enroll in an outpatient, residential or partial hospitalization treatment program, it is helpful to remember that substance use disorders are chronic conditions which require periodical treatment. Recovery may take some time, but you’ll meet new friends while refortifying your health.

Goshen Drug & Alcohol Detox Centers

Detoxification is a necessary component of rehabilitation, but it isn’t synonymous with recovery. For instance, it’s possible to go through the physical withdrawal process without experiencing any true rehabilitation.

Substance misuse is a complex, chronic condition that is rooted in many factors, including: heredity, environment, access and trauma. Psychological science has yet to pinpoint a specific cause and there isn’t any magic cure.

The good news is progress can be directed, instigated and propelled forward by your efforts. The bulk of recovery begins after the toxins are out of your body through CBT and group counselling. Sobriety is a different way of operating in the world. You’ll need to learn skills and obtain tools to help you function differently and CBT and group counselling are where you can practice your new awareness and health.

There are dubious facilities who are more interested in what’s in your wallet, instead of how to help you treat your disorder. Be wary of any institution offering a quick fix or immediate results. Recovery is a process and it’s different for every individual. The only constant in treatment is the fact that you’ll need to commit to the ups and downs of long-term rehabilitation.

Recovery Meetings Near You in Goshen

There have been mentions of alcohol and substance misuse being chronic conditions that require long-term commitments. You can’t stay in a residential treatment center for the rest of your life. This is when aftercare fellowships become integral to your sobriety. People all over the Earth rely on mutual-aid fellowships like Alcoholics Anonymous and SMART Recovery meetings to support them in their pursuit of well-being.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings have been helping people control their misuse of alcohol for almost a century. In 1935, Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith both were struggling with their dependence on alcohol and devised the 12 steps. Since then, AA has become the most popular self-sustaining, non-profit fellowship in the world with 60,000 meetings held annually all over the globe. Members are encouraged to find a sponsor and embrace the 12 traditions which promote inclusivity. Alcoholics Anonymous has a spiritual foundation but doesn’t affiliate with any religion or faith.

People from all faiths are welcome at NA meetings. The 12 traditions insure members focus on rehabilitation, instead of the political and religious divisions found outside the group. Participants are encouraged to find a sponsor to help them reinforce their sobriety. Members take turns addressing the group concerning their progress and setbacks along the road to well-being. The only requirement to join a Narcotics Anonymous group is the desire to stop misusing drugs.

SMART Recovery Meetings

SMART Recovery meetings are different from Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous because they operate from a scientific foundation, instead of a spiritual base. The self-identified authority of the SMART Recovery organization is scientific knowledge and rational thought. SMART is an acronym meaning: Self-Management and Addiction Recovery Training. SMART Recovery follows a four point program.

  1. Discover motivation to maintain desire to stay sober and healthy.
  2. Manage impulses and urges.
  3. Identify and productively process the emotions, thoughts and behaviors that contribute to a substance use disorder.
  4. Finding life-style balance.

Al-Anon and Nar-Anon Meetings

It can be difficult to watch a loved one struggle with substance abuse. There is so much misinformation and stigma surrounding this disease that Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous produced several offshoot organizations. Al-Anon meetings are for the friends and family of an individual suffering from alcohol abuse. While Nar-Anon meetings are for people coping with narcotics misuse. Al-Anon and Nar-Anon groups follow the 12 steps to uncover truths regarding the illness while respecting the 12 traditions. The groups are for anyone who has been affected by alcohol or drug misuse.
