Frequently Asked Questions About Teletherapy

Can appointments be scheduled around my work and family life?

Yes, you’ll be able to schedule your teletherapy appointments at times that fit your schedule.

Will my therapist be available 24/7 or at set times?

While we make every effort to respond to all communication within 24 hours, our therapists are not available 24/7 for messaging.

Who will I meet with for my appointment?

You’ll select the licensed therapist you’d like to meet with when you schedule your first appointment.

Will I have the same therapist every session?

Your individual therapist should remain constant throughout your treatment. Depending on which services you engage in, your individual therapist may differ from your group therapist(s).

Are teletherapy sessions secure and confidential?

Yes, we are committed to the safety and privacy of all of our patients. All communications are transmitted using banking grade encryption and any information you share is protected by HIPAA privacy regulations.

How do you pay for teletherapy services through Nobu?

At The Recovery Village, we believe everyone deserves access to treatment. We have in-network contracts with most private insurance companies that can help offset the cost of treatment. Patients can also privately pay for treatment.

Does insurance cover the cost of teletherapy?

Yes! Insurance will often cover and offset the cost of treatment. We are in-network with most private insurance companies and will verify your benefits prior to starting treatment. Contact us to see if we accept your insurance. You can also call your insurance company directly to discuss your specific policy and coverage.

How do I sign up for teletherapy?

What hardware, software or technology will I need to attend telehealth appointments?

To access your telehealth appointments, you’ll need:

  • A mobile phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer with a connected camera and microphone running one of the following internet browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari
  • An internet connection (for the best experience, wifi or ethernet is preferred)
Is online treatment effective?

Online treatment is an effective method and is as effective as in-person therapy. How comfortable someone is with online treatment often depends on how they feel about talking about personal matters through technology and if they are able to create the same personal connection with their counselor.

What levels of care do you offer for online substance use disorder treatment?

We offer Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient services through the Nobu app. Learn more about our levels of care.

Do you treat co-occurring mental health disorders?

Yes, we treat a variety of co-occurring mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, PTSD and more. We believe in taking an integrated approach between substance abuse and co-occurring disorders treatment to ensure lifelong recovery.

Do you offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) through the Nobu app?

Yes. For patients that qualify, medication-assisted treatment will be available.

How many sessions per week will I have?

To start, you’ll be scheduled for three initial appointments: one with a nurse to complete a medical assessment, one with a licensed therapist to complete a clinical assessment and one with a financial counselor to discuss your insurance benefits and coverage. Based on your assessment, we’ll craft a teletherapy and treatment plan to address your unique situation. From there, you’ll be assigned to a specific level of care which will include varying numbers of sessions each week.

  • Patients in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) have sessions 5–6 hours per day 6 days per week.
  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP) have sessions 3 hours per day for 3–5 days per week.
  • Outpatient (OP) clients have the opportunity to attend a minimum of 1 group therapy session and 1 individual therapy session per week.
Do you offer group or individual counseling?

Teletherapy is available for both individual and group counseling. Groups are limited to 9 people per group session. Depending on your treatment plan you will encounter therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, Family Therapy etc. Learn more about the different types of online therapy to expect.
