Premenstrual dysmorphic disorder or PMDD is linked to both emotional and physical symptoms, both of which are related to a woman’s menstrual cycle. PMDD isn’t the same as premenstrual syndrome or PMS. PMS is believed to affect an estimated 75 percent of menstruating women, while PMDD is much rarer and severe. PMDD is only believed to affect around 5 percent of menstruating women.
