People with gender dysphoria feel conflicted between their physical sex and the gender that they identify with. Due to their inner conflict and the social and cultural stigma that exists, people with gender dysphoria often experience emotional stress and anxiety. People with gender dysphoria may misuse drugs or alcohol to manage their stress, which can contribute to addiction.

Assessing Your Risk of Gender Dysphoria

If you feel that you might have gender dysphoria, you can take a self-assessment to understand your symptoms better. Please note, though, that a quiz is not an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria. Once you complete an assessment, speak with a doctor, therapist or counselor about your symptoms to get a better idea of whether you have gender dysphoria.
