Wellbutrin is a medication used to treat patients with depression. Also known by its generic name, bupropion, Wellbutrin can also be used to help people quit smoking and prevent depression caused by seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Like most medications, Wellbutrin has a set common side effects. Common side effects of bupropion include nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, headache, constipation, increased sweating, joint aches, sore throat, blurred vision, strange taste in mouth, diarrhea, and dizziness.
Although the likelihood of these side effects is low, you should tell your doctor if you experience any of the following serious side effects: chest pain; fainting; a fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat; hearing problems or ringing in the ears; severe headache; mood changes; hallucinations; memory loss; uncontrolled movements; unusual weight fluctuation; and muscle pain, tenderness or weakness.
In some very rare cases, bupropion can cause seizures. If you have a seizure while on Wellbutrin, seek medical attention immediately and stop taking bupropion.
Even if you or someone you love is taking Wellbutrin responsibility, a bupropion dependency or addiction may occur. It is important to remember help is always available if you begin showing signs of Wellbutrin addiction. These signs include becoming obsessed with ingesting or finding bupropion and losing interest in daily life or in the activities and hobbies you once enjoyed.
Inpatient Wellbutrin Rehab is typically reserved for patients with very serious bupropion addiction. While undergoing inpatient Wellbutrin rehab, you will live on campus at one of The Recovery Village’s designated rehab centers. Living on campus gives you the advantage of working on your recovery without being exposed to the difficulties of the outside world.
While at inpatient Wellbutrin rehab, you can get active in individual and group counseling as well as learn skills on how to handle your bupropion addiction after leaving inpatient Wellbutrin rehab.
Outpatient Wellbutrin rehab allows patients to live at home while they undergo treatment in a series of scheduled appointments. Usually, after a patient finishes inpatient Wellbutrin rehab, he or she will be placed in the outpatient program to transition back into the everyday life.
It is much easier to participate in daily activities while undergoing outpatient bupropion treatment. While in the outpatient Wellbutrin rehab program, patients have access to individual and group therapy as well as additional assistance if they suffer from co-occurring mental health or eating disorders.
If you or your loved one is suffering from Wellbutrin addiction or another substance use disorder, seek help right away. The Recovery Village offers patients resources to help people overcome their addiction. The Recovery Village will be with you every step of the way, providing safe and accessible recovery options for anyone suffering from substance use disorder.
