An intervention is an attempt—usually by family and friends—to get someone professional help with an addiction or eating disorder. We will work with the family to facilitate an intervention when necessary.
Personal computers and cell phones are not permitted during treatment. However, your therapist will coordinate the use of electronic equipment during your treatment stay if necessary.
Smoking cessation is offered at all levels of treatment. If you feel you are not ready to quit smoking, cigarette smoking is allowed outdoors at designated times and places.

For your convenience, The Recovery Village is close to Orlando International, Sanford International and Daytona International Airports.
Traveling to an unfamiliar place for recovery can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Our staff can assist with the coordination of travel arrangements to ensure safe arrival and departure to and from any of our facilities.
Our facility has been 100% refurbished and remodeled. We have brand new furnishings and each bedroom has a private bathroom. There is an outdoor pool, state of the art exercise equipment, extensive outdoor meditation areas and beautiful water features.
Money/credit cards may be needed during your stay. These items will be kept in a locked, secure location.
Mail from family members can be very therapeutic. Due to the nature of our facility, all mail will need to be searched in your presence.
We have an outdoor pool and exercise equipment. Clients are provided opportunities to participate in Yoga and other wellness activities. In addition, a basketball hoop and outdoor court yards are available.
If a person has a dual diagnosis, they have multiple issues such as a substance abuse with an eating disorder, substance abuse and depression, or an eating disorder with anxiety. This is very common and the majority of clients will have more than one problem to be addressed. Our multidisciplinary treatment team is able to evaluate and treat eating disorders, substance dependence and psychiatric issues.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are potentially life-threatening conditions. They are devastating psychiatric conditions that can have serious consequences including death. Health consequences of an eating disorder can include low bone density that may not be reversible, electrolyte imbalance that can lead to heart failure and death. Severe dehydration, fainting, fatigue, stress fractures, infertility, hair loss and tooth decay are some of the physical symptoms.
Eating disorders are potentially life-threatening conditions.

1. Warning signs of anorexia nervosa include a rapid weight loss and preoccupation with weight, calories, fat grams, and dieting. You may see the “need” to exercise and a very rigid routine. Also, withdrawal from friends and social activities are often seen.

2. Warning signs of bulimia nervosa include evidence of purging behavior such as frequent trips to the bathroom during meals and smells or signs of vomiting. Finding laxative and diuretic packages. Finding excessive food missing from the home or food wrappers in the garbage. Withdrawal from friends and social activities is often seen.

Bulimia nervosa is a potentially life-threatening condition. The symptoms include bingeing (eating large amounts of food and feeling out of control) and some sort of compensatory behavior to “get rid” of the calories, such as self-induced vomiting, laxative, diuretic or Ipecac abuse. Some clients excessively exercise or just starve themselves in-between binge behavior.
Anorexia nervosa is a potentially life-threatening condition. The symptoms include excessive weight loss and starvation. Women will often lose their menstrual cycle. There is an intense fear of weight gain when a client is challenged about their low weight.
OSFED, Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders can be potentially life-threatening type of eating disorders. The individual would be considered having most of the symptoms of anorexia or bulimia nervosa, but not meet full criteria. Just because someone does not meet full criteria does not mean that it is not serious!
At the Recovery Village, we feel your medical needs can be best met if you are admitted to our intensive residential program. Our medical team will best be able to help you get medically stable so you can fully participate in our intensive outpatient program.
The Recovery Village eating disorder program addresses specifically anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED).

Residential care begins the healing process and prepares you for additional treatment. PHP and IOP assist individuals in learning about the illness, continued medical stabilization and how to avoid continued use of ineffective eating disorder behaviors.
Feeding tubes can be very helpful in the treatment of an eating disorder. Feeding tubes are ordered by your dietitian and medical doctor only when your medical status warrants.
The Recovery Village primary goal is medical stabilization. We can offer vegetarian menus.
An average day in treatment will look different according to your level of care and functioning. When developing your specialized treatment program, we keep in mind what an individual will benefit from. At The Recovery Village we make every attempt to keep activities, groups, and sessions informative, stimulating, challenging and interesting to promote growth and deeper understanding for each person attending.


Relapse prevention is a collaborative method of gaining insight to the barriers that keeps an individual from maintaining recovery. This awareness is used to develop goals and insight to promote a balanced healthy life.
A 12 step program is a program designed to assist individuals in maintaining long term recovery. Participants will be introduced to 12 step programs throughout their treatment stay and will be encouraged to continue attendance in 12 step groups upon completion of the program.
What happens after rehab treatment will be discussed regularly during the treatment stay. Each person has unique needs and will have their own recovery plan that they work on together with their therapist and their multidisciplinary treatment team.
Aftercare is individualized according to what will benefit the person completing treatment. The aftercare plan is discussed between the individual, the therapist, and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Halfway houses can be a beneficial part of an individual’s aftercare plan. A halfway house is helpful for some people; however is not a requirement for all individuals. Halfway houses can be offered; however no one is forced into going into halfway house.


At the Recovery Village, we offer inpatient detox. This level of medical care takes place in a highly medically supervised environment with 24 hour nursing care monitoring the client’s eating disorder, medical condition and psychiatric conditions.
All medications will be reviewed by our medical provider. Medications could be continued when deemed necessary.
Every client at The Recovery Village will participate in the development of an individualized treatment plan with their therapist. In addition, all individualized treatment plans are coordinated through the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Every client will participate daily in a therapeutic activity schedule based on their level of care and their individual rehabilitation goals. Clients can also anticipate individual and family therapy sessions throughout each week during their treatment stay.
A physician is available at The Recovery Village every day, 7 days a week.
Each individual comes into treatment with different needs to address. The treatment stay can vary from a week in detox to up to 45 days of residential care. Every person is treated for their unique needs and we provide a continuum of care to meet these needs on an individual basis.
Inpatient detox can last from several days to just over a week, depending on the type of drugs being used prior to admission and the clients’ overall medical condition.
Detoxification assists with the acute withdrawal of substances. Rehab assists individuals in learning about the illness and how to avoid continued use and the negative harmful effects due to the use of substances.
Sometimes it takes more than one attempt to recover from an addiction or eating disorder. A customized treatment program is often necessary to address the individual’s needs.
Men and Women have different issues that will need to be addressed individually. The Recovery Village offers specialized gender treatment to address men’s and women’s issues.

We have ADA facilities and are able to work with most handicap individuals.
Spirituality is integral part of the recovery process. In addition, prayer, yoga, meditation, and mindfulness meditation are supported.
We treat substance addictions to alcohol, stimulants, narcotics, marijuana and inhalants to name a few.
Yes, our staff and our program are designed to treat co-occurring disorders.
We treat the co-occurring disorders that we see with substance abuse including depression and anxiety. This is screened by our medical director at admissions.
We have 24 hour nursing care on the Detox and Residential program. There is 24 hour nursing available to all programs. Our Doctors are on-site daily.
