When someone recognizes that they or someone they know is struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, the most effective approach to recovery is professional treatment. The type of addiction treatment programs that best suit a person’s needs will depend on what kind of facility someone decides to attend. Some of the most common drug and alcohol rehab programs include:
- Medical detox
- Inpatient treatment
- Residential treatment
- Partial hospitalization programs
- Intensive outpatient programs
- Outpatient programs
- Aftercare
The treatment program that someone chooses typically depends on a variety of factors, including the severity of their addiction and the level of care they need. Many drug treatment programs can be individualized to address substance use and co-occurring disorders. Co-occurring disorders may include mental health disorders like depression and anxiety.
