The Recovery Village will take part in a golf tournament this month to support the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness. The tournament will take place December 12, 2013, and will bring together supporters from around the country for the purpose of raising funds to educate others about eating disorders.
We at The Recovery Village are more than happy to take part in the Alliance’s golf tournament. The Alliance is “dedicated to providing programs and activities aimed at outreach and education related to health promotion, including all eating disorders, positive body image, and self-esteem.” We know the importance of the work that the Alliance is taking part in, and we are proud to support their efforts.
We have provided sponsorship for this year’s tournament, and will host the continental breakfast for participants. We look forward to a day of fun and relaxation to benefit a cause that is important to us.
Eating disorders currently affect approximately 25 million Americans, according to the Alliance. These disorders control lives and lead to conditions such as substance abuse and other mental illness. Eating disorders can be difficult to overcome, and anorexia has the highest mortality rate among all psychological disorders.
The Recovery Village supports the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness because of their mission to educate others about the danger of these disorders. It is important to not only stop eating disorders from occurring, but also to encourage those currently struggling with an eating disorder to find help. The treatment program at The Recovery Village helps individuals heal the stress and emotional turmoil in their life that is contributing to their eating disorder, and develop the skills needed to live a healthy, happy life.
