Meghan Sinisi, Miss Pennsylvania, joins us as a Real Talk Brand Ambassador in 2021/2022! She is a 2017 graduate of Syracuse University and a 2021 graduate of the University of Missouri. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Health Science in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. In addition to serving as an ambassador, Meghan also dedicates her time to inspiring autism acceptance through her 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, "From a New Perspective." She is currently traveling Pennsylvania on an "Autism Acceptance Tour" with a goal to teach students in all 67 counties of PA about autism spectrum disorders. She is also the founder of an "Acceptance Ambassadors" leadership program, an advocate for the installation of sensory rooms in public spaces, and the co-host a podcast and video series titled, "Spectrum Sundays," which is now streamed in 10+ countries.
Supporting Real Talk and Advanced Recovery Systems is important to Meghan because her family is directly impacted by addiction. In 2018, her cousin, Shawn, lost his decade-long battle with substance use disorder after countless attempts at recovery. Since then, Meghan has worked closely with her Aunt Marianne to help her develop the Families United for Change Foundation, a safe space for people that are touched by addiction. Families United works collaboratively to increase awareness, educate, and advocate for a shift in public perception regarding substance use disorders. Meghan focuses not only on substance use prevention, but also sustainable and effective recovery options, employment opportunities for those in recovery, and accountability of medical and pharmaceutical professionals who contribute to the opioid epidemic.
