Conversion disorder is a rare, and frequently mysterious mental condition leading to neurological symptoms that can’t be explained by an underlying medical cause. For example, conversion disorder symptoms can include paralysis or blindness, often after exposure to stress or trauma.
Co-occurring disorders seen frequently with a conversion disorder include a dissociative disorder or a personality disorder. The symptoms a person is experiencing are real and it can’t be controlled by the person experiencing them.
