Given the amnesiac qualities inherent to DID and Complex PTSD, it is often difficult for even experienced clinicians to correctly observe the presence of trauma-based dissociation in patients,
especially at higher levels of care. This presentation explores the etiology and observable presentation of DID and trauma-based dissociation, and specific clinical practices which may increase appropriate diagnosis.
1) Participants will be able to identify the causes of trauma-related dissociation and identify x3 differences between PTSD and Complex PTSD.
(2) Participants will be able to identify x3 observable signs that a patient is experiencing the effects of structural dissociation versus differential diagnoses, especially at higher levels of care.
(3) Participants will be able to able to identify the phases of phase-oriented treatment of DID and Complex PTSD.
