About the Speakers:

Kathleen is a Children's Counselor with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. For the last 9 years, she has worked to help children understand and heal from the hurt caused from having addiction in the family. She strongly believes that including and centering children in the process of family recovery is key to breaking the intergenerational nature of addiction and dysfunction.

Lindsey Chadwick (She/hers), MA, LPC, has worked for the Hazelden Betty Ford Children’s Program in Aurora, Colorado since 2008. She began working at HBFF after completing her undergraduate

degree in Sociology at Colorado State University. She completed her master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy at the University of Colorado Denver in 2013. Lindsey has over 13 years of

experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in individual and group settings.

Description: A presentation focused on helping professionals understand the specific issues children face who have grown up or are still living in a home with drug and alcohol addiction. We will focus on how children are affected and different tools professionals can use to help these kids and their families.

Course Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to identify 3 ways in which children are impacted by addiction.

2. Participants will be able to idenitfy 3 tools to utilize to support children impacted by addiction.

3. Participants will identify 4 roles that children often take on in the family.

2 Credit Hours

Time: 10AM - 12PM MST

The Recovery Village at Palmer Lake has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7011. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Recovery Village at Palmer Lake is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

NBCC credit is automatically accepted for National Certified Counselors recertification. Most state Professional Counselor Licensure Boards readily accept NBCC credit for licensure renewal.
