Considering the prevalence of people who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who also have mental health diagnosis and / or histories of trauma, to provide the highest quality of care professionals need to understand this population's unique needs. It is imperative to properly assess and adapt treatment modalities to be person centered in delivering services and supporting this population using best practices.
1) Gain a better understanding of adults and children who have Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and their needs for mental health services.
2) Understand prevalence of co-occurring mental illness and developmental disabilities.
3) Gain a better understanding of the therapeutic interventions that can be adapted for people with IDD.
4) Review Trauma-Informed Care implications for people with IDD.
