Speaker: Donna Rininger, LMHC, MCAP Director of Specialty Services at Peace River Center

Donna is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Master’s Certified Addiction Professional and has worked at Peace River Center, a community mental health, substance use, and primary care agency, for the past 30 years in several different departments. Donna currently holds the position of Director of Specialty Services at Peace River Center. Donna is trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and has been using this effective therapy techniques since the mid-90’s, witnessing amazing positive results with many clients from small children to senior citizens. Donna became an Approved Consultant through EMDRIA to assist other therapists who are going through the certification process for this type of therapy. She is also a trainer for EMDR Consulting, Inc.

Traumatic stress can be associated with changes in the brain. By tapping into how the brain processes information, healing of traumatic memories is possible.

Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to describe what happens in the brain during a traumatic experience.

2. Participants will be able to describe how trauma changes the brain.

3. Participants will learn how to tap into the brain's adaptive information processing systems to promote healing from trauma.

Time: 10AM - 12PM

2 Continuing Education Credit Hours Offered.

Advanced Recovery Systems has been recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 6874). Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Advanced Recovery Systems is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

NBCC credit is automatically accepted for National Certified Counselors recertification. Most state Professional Counselor Licensure Boards readily accept NBCC credit for licensure renewal. In order to be certain, contact your board directly for more information.
