Presenter: Shannon Crather, LPCC
Shannon Crather is a practicing Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. She received her Master’s degree from Monmouth University in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Sociology and History from Muskingum University. She is currently working primarily with Children and Adolescents at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Shannon has practiced counseling with an array of populations in different levels of care including impoverished youth and families, childhood trauma victims, behavior management, parenting, addiction, and co-occurring disorders with both adolescents and adults, incarcerated youth, with specialization and continued passion in adolescent practices. Shannon is an advocate for teens and is passionate about meeting clients where they are at. She relies on the power of resiliency and the belief that every tool you need to have to overcome challenges and be successful already lies inside you.
Presenter Topic: Adolescent Survival Skills
Topic Description: Adolescents face a series of unknown challenges that can interfere in all domains of their life. In this training, you will learn necessary to best treat adolescents in a way that can foster resiliency and success as they work through different mental health and substance abuse difficulties.
Better understand common developmental, mental health, and substance abuse issues facing adolescents
Develop practical strategies to implement when working with adolescents facing mental health and substance abuse difficulties
Develop improved competency in delivering evidence guided interventions
Better understand the role families play in outcomes of adolescent treatment

12:45PM - 1:00PM Q & A, Certifications of Completion
Continuing Education credit hours will be awarded as accredited by NBCC. Attendees will need to contact their governing body in order to have credits applied. The exception would be nurses that would go through CE Brokers. Priority seating is reserved for individuals receiving Continuing Education Credit.
