Community Education Series: How Music Can Help Heal Wounds of Addiction
The Recovery Village is partnering up with Opera del Sol for the month of September for National Recovery Month. Opera del Sol will showcase a performance written and produced by Opera del Sol’s Nishaa Johnson, Composer, Arranger, and Artistic Director. After the performance, founder and creative director, Nicole Dupre will further the discussion on how music can relate to many subjects in one's life when dealing with a substance use disorder or mental health concerns with Nishaa and Theresa Smith-Levin, Executive Director.
September 2: Take Your Broken Heart and Turn it Into Art
The webinar will showcase an originally arranged version of Iris but Goo Goo Dolls. Nicole will touch upon Opera del Sol, Project Opioid, what to expect and how music and addiction can be paired.
September 9: Addiction Crisis Through a Mother’s Eyes (parent-oriented)
The webinar will feature an originally arranged version of the song Rockabye by Camilla Cabello. You will get to see how young mothers are living in today’s society. You will also hear from Nishaa and Theresa and their journey throughout producing the series.
September 16: How Do We Connect to Generation Z: How to Get Them to Care
The webinar will feature an originally arranged version of the song Bring me Back to Life by Evanescence. You will learn the current statistics for opioid deaths and how it is the #1 killer in the US. You will also learn why music is a great way to connect and how to teach and reach your Gen Z patients.
September 23: The Causes of Despair and Knowing You are Not Alone
The webinar will feature an originally arranged version of the song Creep by Radiohead. The webinar will be focussing on depression, self-worth, and self-esteem.
September 30: Are You Ready to Take on New Beginnings?
The final webinar will feature an originally arranged version of the song, In the End by Lincoln Park. This will be a recap of the series, and a Q&A with Opera del Sol.
